Our mission and goals reflect the collective efforts of parents, teachers, business and community leaders who believe that access and training will aid to eliminate the documented disadvantages “The Digital Divide” produced by the growing technology advancements that are inaccessible to so many.
Neighbors Empowering Youth promotes the use of technology in education by providing computer access, training and mentorship that encourages academic enrichment, exploration of the Internet and multimedia activities.
Guided by the belief that young people are society's future, that family and strong community involvement form the framework of a civilized society, N.E.Y. will help our youth obtain the skills necessary to get and keep computer related jobs. We take the simple approach of reaching out to the youth of our community.
Neighbors Empowering Youth (NEY) is a non-profit 501(c) 3 service organization established to provide computers and computer training to the under-served youth of the Pasadena and Altadena communities who are especially vulnerable to the effects of poverty, crime, gang involvement, unemployment and are at academic risk. |

We believe...
“A child without a computer is like a student without a pencil”. |
|
 |
| Beginning in 2003, NEY partnered with Mustangs on the Move, a community after school collaboration, to offer “NEY’s Kids Work” on the campus of John Muir High School. The skills the students learn allow them to help with repairs of the computers on the campus of John Muir High School and throughout the PUSD, serving both the students and the school district. We know that given the chance, the potentials of young adults can be directed towards success. |
